babysitting

i am babysitting today. both baby benson and jack are sacked out right now. benson is drooling in jack's crib. it's precious. jack wanted oh so badly to climb in there with him. thankfully papa dan laid down with him on my bed and soon he was slumbering. just wanted to do a little cyber-schmoozing before i head upstairs and fold some laundry. it's a great day. Praise the Lord!

lemon buttermilk scones

one of the awesome perks of staying at home with my son...baking. i made lemon buttermilk scones from a recipe i got off the soulemama website. yum! no sugar in them. you sweeten with honey. they are so soft and tasty. i wondered if it was worth the mess to grate the lemon peel. yes, yes it was. it adds such a refreshing note. jack and i ate ours with butter and strawberry jam this morning. can't wait to modify the recipe with fruits and herbs!

...the birthday box...

at church, around the time of your birthday, you get to go in "the birthday box". actually, a few years ago we updated and now there are 2. still. jack went up for his birthday on sunday. it was a little overwhelming for him. he threw a minor fit. still, all ended well because there happened to be a tootsie roll pop in the box. as you can see, he even gave up the chance at a new ball for it. candy!!!!!!! it went straight into the mouth. oh well, he is only 2 after all.

POTTY!

jackers went potty in the potty chair today. first i had him sit while watching seseme street. nothing. so i put his chair in his closet. he likes privacy. HOORAY! he got some m&m's as a reward. later on he pooped in his new training pants...but hey, there will be ups and downs. i am so excited to begin this phase of his childhood.
