spring cleaning

i have successfuly spring cleaned my e-mail. i am down to 6 messages. be jealous.

papa bwak bwak's knee replacement

my grandfather had a knee replacement surgery lately. jack really misses his "papa bwak bwak". bwak is the sound a chicken makes, according to jack and papa. so, today i braved some nasty yet beautiful snow to take jack to see papa. ...and to get some cheap butter and cheese at the grocery store, let's be honest! can't keep me from a grocery sale! i digress. point is, these two are pals and i can't wait until spring so they can go and visit their beloved chickens again.

box of loveliness

today i received a box of loveliness from a friend. lauren pope, you are a great friend. in my box was a bunch of cool hand-me-downs for jack, dark chocolate:), postcards, a funky coloring book, chalk, a birthday calendar, and............ a valentine illustration lauren did that i had just loved. it is hanging on the side of my fridge (where jackie can't ruin it) for now, but i will be framing this sweet thang soon. it is lovely.

madagascar 2

jack and i are sick today. i have been on the couch or in bed all day. seemed a good time to watch the borrowed "madagascar 2" dvd. laughed my butt off. trust me, there's a scene where a grandma kicks some animal butt and i just about fell off the couch. it's good.

painting

today i painted a ceiling. it took me 7 hours, but it was worth it. it had better be... i don't think i will be able to move tomorrow. i might even wish someone would knock me over the head with a rock to put me out of my misery. :) but you know what else? "they" said i couldn't do it... AND I DID.

jack and i just had lunch. since there was only a smidge of hummus left, jack got it. i gave him a piece of ham and half a pita bread tore up and dipped in hummus. i ate my lunch up quick, but jack lingered. i couldn't resist the hummus... and he looked like he might be done... so i took a little piece and popped it into my mouth. "uhhhhhh, mine!", jack said and pointed at my mouth. i was so busted.

happy valentine's day

happy valentine's day to everyone... but especially to my husband, dan. dan, you are my valentine!!! :) last night dan took me to the Church's Valentine Banquet. we had a fabulous time. great company, great food, great atmosphere. i will probably post some photos later. i must say that the best part was the adult conversation. i love being a mommy, but sometimes you need some girl talk! anyway, i made this valentine for dan yesterday. dan made me one on the back of a dirty paper plate when he saw that i had a valentine for him and he didn't have one for me. it was pretty funny. dan is cute.

baby hats

i knit. i might have mentioned this. i have knitted quite a few scarves. very basic. i also dabbled in dish cloths for Christmas gifts. dabble dabble. now i am trying baby hats. i also knitted a green-blue wool baby hat, but i already gave that one away to my cousin shawn's baby, henry. so. the big hat on the left is jack's. the one on the right is an infant hat that i will sell or use as a baby gift. a very useful hobby! so glad i learned how. very soothing! if anyone wants a hat, i will sell the little hats for $5. jack sized hats for $7. i am also going to branch out into bibs and baby booties soon.

Pizza Hut

my mom likes to take jack and i out to lunch. or, in this case, dinner. she had been wanting a pizza hut pizza anyhow. i will be that excuse!:) this was the first time jack used a booster seat. jack is very good in restaurants. he is a hungry boy who doesn't mess around. in case you miss it -- pay especial attention to the poochy lips on my mom and jack. glad i had the camera with.

diet, cont.

i just thought of something. i do believe it was my sophomore year at pcc ('96-'97) that there was a "health food line". there were these veggie burgers that i just loved. well, i have found that they are the "morningstar farms" brand. i still love them. had one for dinner (2 points!) last night. i may even try their corn dogs (only 3 points!).:) i have also had their "sausage". really good. i would eat them when my boys would have hot dogs. ok, enough diet talk.

diet

i am on a diet. i recruited my gram to diet with me. today is our second day. if you are familiar with "weight watchers" you will understand what i say when we are aiming to eat only 20 points a day. that is tiny. you are pretty much guaranteed to lose weight, even without exercise because you are consuming so few calories. in case you weren't aware, i am in for some more knee surgery. it is pretty much impossible for me to get good exercise. so, cross your fingers and wish us luck. so far so good. and i haven't wanted to kill anyone... yet. we'll see what mood i am in on sunday.:) well, at least i will have a body of believers around me for support on my last diet day. :) monday i am having PIZZA. LOTS OF PIZZA.:)
