to quote jack anders's first sentence, "i DID it!". lately, I did it! friday night at about 10pm i finally finished my hat. the first of probably many hats i will try to make for myself.:) it's exhilarating! cheap, three dimensional fiber sculpture as fashion!:) i got this hat pattern free from a link on soulemama's blog. i thought it was the most adorable hat, and very becoming. now that i have made it for myself... i perceive that it IS the most adorable hat and VERY becoming. hooray hooray!
oh danny boy did i have a great st. patty's day!:) today was my second day watching my niece, claire. we read, played blocks with jack, watched muppet shows, had lunch at culver's, bought some yarn:), went to starbucks, made kool-aid play-doh, went to the park, and ate rice crispy bars. apparently we also kissed the blarney stone and turned our lips green.
well, i started a small fire in my bathroom. the usual. :) i was blow dying my hair this morn. the dryer just died all of a sudden. i played with the switch and jiggled the end of the cord that attaches to the dryer. fine. so i looked to the outlet. spark, spark, POP! then a small burst of flames. then i am sure i screamed, but not sure how the fire went out... then i unplugged the dryer. woooo. i took this photo after wiping off as much of the soot as i could. it was just BLACK. i think i know what was wrong with the dryer. the wire is cut right underneath the outlet plug. i suppose the sparks set the warning sticker ablaze. glad i didn't remove that oh-so-safe warning sticker. ha ha.
toulouse is my kitty. this is the second time i have spied him sunning himself on my arbor. isn't he a beauty? he has gold eyes.
my sister, her husband, and their 4 girls came for an extended weekend stay. sunday night they came over to my house for homemade pizza dinner. we had a FAB time. i played candyland with the 2 older girls and got to watch my baby play with his cousins. enolea and jack are buddies. she and jack were playing with dolls under the table. emelea joined them when she noticed that i was going to take a photo.:) i miss those girls already.:(
jack loves to put his boots on. he also loves hats and gloves. i don't usually let jack run around in his diaper, but he was really hot and i was letting him cool down. then he wanted a banana. is he cute, or WHAT?!!! and somehow this photo reminds me of my father.
relief. tonight my church held a "parent appreciation night". the goal was to get to know parents who don't come to our church with their children. i was in charge of the food for over 60 people. it was hard, but extremely...FUN!:) really! i had my "kitchen underlings". that was fun.:) we had a blast. and, when the last plate of food was dished out to our guests... i had 4 meatballs extra. to God be the glory, great things He has done with spaghetti and meatballs.
