we are members of the Deerwood Baptist Church. it is a beautiful little wooden church. it is stuffed full to bursting with loving, godly people. the Pastor preaches the truth from God's Bible. i have heard a ton of sermons in my life and i can tell you that we are blessed to have the real deal only about 10 minutes from our home.
this is a photo of jack choosing his gift from the "birthday box". i took photos and had my mom video tape. this was a big deal to me. bonus points to jack for looking angelic.

soooooooooooooo proud
i can't even tell you the depths of my feeling at having my little baby son turn one. the love is huge.
let jack eat cake
jack turned one june 8, 2008. hooooooray! it feels amazing to have reached that milestone. jack looks so mature. his teeth are so big. his back is getting boney. he is on the verge of a haircut. i just don't want to screw it up. it wisps all over and i am constantly fussing with it. i am not really "one of those mothers", but that hair is giving me fits.
this is jack at his birthday party. the cowboy hat, shoes, and shirt were from grandma brenda. the jeans are hand-me-downs. the belt was mine from when i was a baby. my grandparents brought it back as a souvenir. it is a leather belt with "montana" in beads on the back.

jack falls off the wagon...
ok, so it wasn't a wagon. jack fell off the child-sized recliner. poor baby. he scared himself very badly and cried and cried. so i rocked him in the adult-sized recliner and finished watching "sense and sensibility" for the millionth time until he fell asleep.
"me and my friend saw a platypus"
i like this new song called "handlebars" by the flobots. just because it says, "me and my friend saw a platypus." even though my college english minor self knows that it should be, "my friend and i saw a platypus.".
